here is my letter of comlaint to wicked should give you a general idea of the levels expected!:
I am writing to complain; I rented one of your “classic” vans on the 15th January 2011 form the Sydney depot registration number S815 AJO.
Firstly I am writing to complain about the state (inside and outside) that the van was loaned to me, as you can see from the pictures I have supplied the roof was moldy and therefore the inside of the van had a rather unpleasant aroma.
As I am sure you can appreciate that after 7 days of this we had had enough, pair that up with the state of the mattresses (uneven and smelt of cigarette smoke).
I am sure you agree this was unacceptable means of sleeping and it severely affected our holiday due to lack of sleep.
The cleanliness is also apparent in the other picture I have attached to the email, this mug was what we were given to drink out of, as you can understand we didn’t use it and had to purchase more utensils as this was the best of a bad bunch, most of the utensils that were supplied were also in a similar state.
Secondly I would like to venomously complain about the attitude of the staff you employ at the depot in Sydney! They were rude and ignorant especially Charlie Clement the staff member who deals with bookings, they were totally unwilling to listen to my complaints, we still had 4 days remaining on the van but as I have already described it was totally uninhabitable for any further length of time, we would have preferred a cleaner and more appropriate van but it was not offered and when I asked they looked at me as if I had two heads!
The staff member who checks in and out the vans were also rude and unapologetic, he insisted that I clean the van!! I pointed out to him that if he took a closer look at the ceiling and the utensils that the van was loaned out to me in an unsatisfactory state, he went onto ask me if I had checked the vehicle before it was loaned, I informed him that I had taken pictures of the outside of the van but as I expected a certain level of cleanliness I did not think to check inside! He was unbelievably rude and laughed in my face!
I would also like to draw your attention to the call centre staff you employ, on the third day the van broke down (not to my surprise at all). the van just stopped working, as if the battery had died while we were driving, a very scary thing on foreign roads, when we contacted the staff member she told me to get a jump start, now I don’t know much about cars but I do know that a moving vehicle should recharge its battery and clearly the van wasn’t holding its charge, she was unbelievably condescending and totally useless! All I can say is thank god for the NRMA!
Overall I am disappointed in the standards you obviously feel are appropriate and goes totally against the feeling I was exposed to while I was in Australia, I had spent vast amounts of money to get to there and then to be given a wholly substandard vehicle I can only tell you I was severely disappointed all round!
I am sure you will just offer you apologies etc but really its more than that, I feel for others who will rent your vehicles in the future and would advise them to think about renting from a more reputable company who pride themselves on cleanliness and customer service as quite clearly you do not.

Well, where to start?
DO NOT GET A WICKED CAMPER VAN! Our van broke down on the freeway after 3 days, ended up paying for campsite for 3 extra days as the repairs were too extensive for one day! We had 4 un-roadworthy tyres, the oil and fuel filters were blocked, the engine coolant pipe was split and the passenger side wheel was coming away from the axle!!!!!!!!!! This van could have KILLED US, and wicked campers response was nothing, they kept putting us on to ‘Ruby Roadside’ when it was not for them to deal with, we demanded some sort of compensation/refund anything to get rid of this van as we felt very very VERY unsafe in it, they said no and hung up on us REPEATEDLY! We then said we were going to pursue the matter further with possible legal action and they said “We at wicked campers cold not give a s**t what you do, any publicity is good publicity, return the van, don’t return the van, we don’t care” then they hung up! I promise all you readers now this is in no way an exaggeration, wicked campers are going to pay for their negligence that could have cost me and my 4 friends lives. Watch out for the news as i will do everything within my power to punish wicked campers, and if any staff are reading this especially ‘john@wickedcampers.com.au’ i will go to papers, health and safety officials, police, trading standards and everything else i can fine. I understand this is not the first time wicked campers had a problem, i believe 2 people were severely injured in a accident in their wicked camper as it was not safe and wicked campers vans were all taken off the road and tested, over HALF of the fleet were deemed un roadworthy and dangerous by officials. Its round 2 wicked campers.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT GET A WICKED CAMPER THEY ARE ALL DEATHTRAPS!!
Some friends of mine had a horrific experiance with this company.. serious nightmare material.
